The mast foot on Davin was partialy broken when I got her, soon after practicising raising and lowering the mast it was fully broken!

My main sail didnt seem right.

Although new to sailing I was sure the main sail didnt look right, try as a might I couldnt get the bagginess out along the luff - I have only just learnt that word! and also the boom seemed to hang down at more than 90 degrees to the mast, this picture shows also the slackness in the leech.
I dont have that problem though!

My main sail didnt seem right ...

After a bit of investigating it appeared my bolt rope had shrunk!
The really friendly people at Jeckylls in Wroxham explained all about it and within an hour they had stretched out the sail and added a small extension to the rope - approx 200mm did a few other small repairs and bingo - its as good as new - well nearly - not bad for 33 odd years to say the least - looks really good now

Boat safety scheme and the Norfolk Broads

After much discussion with the Broads authority it transpires that although Davin has no gas, electrics or inboard engine I still have to have a safety certificate to register it on the broads. So duly my nice little Yamaha 4 hp outboard was looked at and it past!- Well why wouldnt it?
Its done now for 4 years but seemed a pointless exercise - other than handing over £110.00!!!
