The Story Begins

My Manta 19 is called Watson's Lady and I fell in love with her the first time I saw her. This was about 12 years ago now. She rested on a cradle in a boatyard I pass everyday on the way to work.
After much deliberation I finally bought her and got her home.A friend of mine made up a road trailer just to get her home and this worked out well and soon she sat in my driveway looking a little .....well......old!
I am lucky enough to live only 10 minutes from the sea,by car. The beautiful inlet of Oysterhaven lies east of Kinsale harbour in county Cork. The entrance to this small inlet is guarded by two small islands slightly to the east. They are The Soverigns and my ambition as a novice sailer is to sail out to the largest of these in by manta.
Preliminary work was done all those years ago and the first summer about 4 months after buying her,Watson's Lady was securely moored in Oysterhaven.
My sailing experience was very very limited and even though I had sailed with more experienced sailors on their boats, up to now I never was in the position of skipper of my own boat. With a more experienced sailor friend, we took her on her first voyage and although we did not go to the Soverigns, we did put her through her paces. She passed with flying colours! and I had my first wonderful sail on Watson's Lady!
