Drucouloir Drucouloir Wed 06 Feb 2019 12:46:58 Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and v new to yachting. I've been dinghy sailing for a few years but I've no real experience of bigger boats other than a couple of weeks helping a friend move theirs.

Having decided that I really need to put the pipe out, get off the sofa and start trying to make dreams a reality, I began looking around for boats. Trailer sailing seems to be the way to go for someone landlocked in the midlands and a Manta 19 looks to be the ideal vehicle for all those pipe dreams. I saw one for the first time a couple of years ago; please excuse yet another cliche but it was love....LUV love. A proper boat with beautiful lines and on a scale that may be practical for me.
Since then of course I've done lots of research, weighed up other options and I'm still coming back to the Manta 19.

You all know a great deal more about them than I do, I've never even sailed on one, and I certainly don't need to tell you how lovely they are. I've really enjoyed reading all the accounts of Manta 19s so thank you all for posting and fuelling my dreams.

The point of introducing myself is not just to say hello, I'm hoping that someone out there will have a Manta 19 that needs some love, that's languishing in a state of disrepair and that they are looking to pass on to someone who'll lavish her with attention.

Failing that or maybe even more important, is there anyone willing to suffer crew and to pass on their wisdom please?

Another thought that occurred to me is that someone might need some work done to their boat or the trailer, I'm a furniture maker, generally bespoke projects, so woodwork should be doable and I've welded together several trailers and narrow boats. Does your need any attention?

Please do get in touch should any of the above chime for you, thanks for reading.

I'm new to the Manta 19 world, too, but I've found that there's a wealth of Manta 19 related info out there, especially if you are willing to decipher German language sources - or send pages through Google Translate:

It is also possible to gain some inspiration from owners of the Neptun 20 and Neptun 22 (by Miglitsch) and the Sunbeam 22. All three could be considered close relatives to the Manta 19.

Thanks for those links, unfortunately my German is nonexistent but I'm getting the gist of it with google translate.

I'll have a look at the Neptunes and Sunbeam,

Best.
