Sailing Into the "Randstad"
Mekicevica continues heading North and is now sailing on the busy BIg Rivers, sharing the water with large freight ships on their way from Rotterdam Sea Port. She has now reached the Randstad, a megalopolis in the West of the Netherlands, that boasts one of the highest population densities in the World.
In the midst of this, we manage to find beautiful old towns and quiet, friendly harbours.

Pushing the Limits and an Encounter with Pirates
Another sailing weekend with two days of contrasting weather. On Saturday Mekicevica ventured out in a good 5 Bf, verging on 6 Bf and did brilliantly. Unfortunately we were unable to make landfall at the intended harbour and had to return to Middelharnis.
On Sunday, light breeze and later no wind at all. After escaping the Pirates of the Haringvliet we had to motor back to the starting point.

The World Beyond the Grevelingen Lock
We finally gathered the courage to get out of the lock and face tidal waters (briefly) and huge ships (really huge).
In the latest Mekicevica blog you can read about lock hell, bird paradise, and nice harbours in quaint Dutch towns.
Living a Dutch Saying, The Skipper Gets Cold Feet, and The Best Sail Ever
A four-day weekend with (mostly) good weather and Mekicevica was off into new adventures.
This time we got to understand the meaning of the Dutch expression "aan lager wal" but also had the most pleasant day of sailing so far.

Alone at Sea (for 5 mins) and Trailer Troubles
Mekicevica's latest adventure includes a solo semi-circumnavigation of channel marker G2 (one third of a mile) and Trevis The Trailer gets us in trouble at the Slip From Hell.
Grevelingen Round Tour - Parts 1 and 2
Mekicevica makes her first two-day trip, a round tour of the Grevelingen.
She takes a good blow gallantly but nearly gets dismasted.
The full blog is now on line.
Maiden Voyage (of a very experienced lady) At Last
Finally, after seven months of hard work (and zillions of ????s spent), on Easter Saturday 2011, Mekicevica was launched in Bruinisse, on the Grevelingen in Zeeland.
